We use and allow certain third parties to use cookies and tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies“) on our Sites.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small amounts of data that are stored on your browser, device, or the page you are viewing. Some cookies are deleted once you close your browser, while other cookies are retained even after you close your browser so that you can be recognized when you return to a website.

How do we use cookies?
We use cookies to provide the Sites and services, gather information about your usage patterns when you navigate these Sites in order to enhance your personalized experience, and to understand usage patterns to improve our Sites, products, and services.  We also allow certain third parties to place cookies on our Sites in order to collect information about your online activities on our Sites over time and across different websites you visit. This information is used to provide advertising tailored to your interests on websites you visit, also known as interest-based advertising, and to analyze the effectiveness of such advertising by third parties.

Web analysis

GIS analyzes how its websites are used with assistance of the third-party-owned analysis tool Google Analytics.

Google Analytics
Google Analytics, a web-based analysis service by Google Inc., uses cookies, which are saved on the User’s computer. Google shortens the User’s IP address within Member States of the European Union or in other partner states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases would the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the U.S. and anonymized there. Google evaluates the information that has been saved on behalf of Google for the purpose of compiling reports on the website’s usage and in order to provide other associated services for GIS. Google may combine the IP address transmitted from the User’s browser by Google Analytics with other data that has been collected.

You can opt out (block the tracking of Google Analytics) of Google Analytics cookies at any time. To do so, please visit:

What are your other options if you do not want cookies on your computer?
You can review your Internet browser settings, typically under the sections “Help” or “Internet Options,” to exercise choices you have for certain Cookies. If you disable or delete certain Cookies in your Internet browser settings, you might not be able to access or use important functions or features of these Sites, and you may be required to reenter your log-in details.

Social Media Buttons

Our Sites contain plugins of third-party providers to social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) that are embedded into the websites of GIS. These plugins enable the User to share content on the social networks mentioned above. If the User is simultaneously logged in to the network of the respective third-party provider when they visit the website, the third-party provider can assign the visit to the User’s network account. GIS has no influence on this.

The purpose and scope of such a form of data collection and the further processing and usage of Personal Data are outlined in the data protection guidelines of the individual social networks. Users can also obtain information there on rights and settings options to protect their privacy. GIS has made sure that the third-party providers are compliant with the Personal Data Regulations.

How long do we retain Personal Data?
We typically retain Personal Data related to marketing activities for as long as you accept marketing communications from us, and we will securely delete such data in accordance with applicable law upon request. For Personal Data that we collect and process for other purposes, we will typically retain such Personal Data for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Right to withdraw consent with respect to data protection

Anyone affected by the processing of Personal Data can withdraw their consent at any time. This must be done in writing to the Data Protection Officer of GIS
